USSR anyone?

I've been reading a lot of blogs/articles and the point that most seem to be missing, or perhaps, ignoring, is that although Abkhazia and South Ossetia appear to want "independence," they actually, by extension/occupation, become part of Russia. Can anyone say USSR? If you look at a map and see the intrusion into Georgian territory, no wonder they're vehemently against it. But in the end, NATO and the West will sell out Georgia in order to maintain peace. Just ask the Sudanese. Cold War anyone?
